Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP)
Submitted by: Shannon Chaffin, AON Risk Services, Volunteer.
Network funds will be used to purchase and provide spay/neuter kits to 2 local veterinarians who provide low cost spay/neuter services. The kits include vaccinations, de-wormer and flea control. Young cats can be rehabilitated and placed in a suitable home and adult cats are released back into their environment where they can live a healthy life without procreation. www.animalfriendsrescue.org

Franciscan Workers of Junipero Serra
(Dorothy’s Place Hospitality Center)

Network funds will be used to provide assistance with needed prescriptions for the poor and homeless elderly, disabled and children. July, 2007 Dorothy’s Place lost FEMA funding and are now very low on Outreach Program funding.

Friends of the Salinas Public Library

Network funds will be used to purchase books to be given to each child participating in the Parade of Lights Story Time held on November 19, 2007 at the Steinbeck Library. Fun activities and “celebrity” readers are part of the program. www.fospl.org

Salinas Senior Center

Network funds will be used to purchase equipment and advice from a public relations firm for a PowerPoint presentation to tell the compelling story of why a state-of-the-art, one stop shop senior center is needed in Salinas. The PowerPoint presentation will be used when meeting with churches, service organizations, community leaders and more. |

Sammie’s Kids Foundation

Network funds will be used to assist in purchasing jackets and sweatshirts for the Sammie’s Kids recipients. The funds will be utilized by December 2007 through working with supporting retailers. The jackets and sweatshirts are for male and female children ranging in age from 0 to 17.
